I am a lecturer in pure mathematics at the University of St Andrews. My research is in algebraic and tropical geometry. See my research page for more detail.

Here is my CV (updated October 2021).

My email address is yoav.len@st-andrews.ac.uk.

Upcoming maths events (modulo covid).

  • I am organising a 1-day conference on tropical geometry at St Andrews on 11 April. Click here for details and registration.

  • I am giving a mini course as part of the Cambridge summer school on combinatorial algebraic geometry on 5-9 September (link).

I strongly believe in the axioms laid out by Federico Ardila:

Axiom 1. Mathematical potential is distributed equally among different groups, irrespective of geographic, demographic, and economic boundaries.

Axiom 2. Everyone can have joyful, meaningful, and empowering mathematical experiences.

Axiom 3. Mathematics is a powerful, malleable tool that can be shaped and used differently by various communities to serve their needs.

Axiom 4. Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
